Today I’m going to begin with the question:

“WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE NUMBER ONE HURDLE WHICH LIMITS YOUR GROWTH, BOTH IN LIFE AND BUSINESS?”

You’ve probably heard the metaphorical story of two people with the same education, family, and opportunities, but one achieved great success while the other did not.

How is this possible? It is because many factors actually influence a person’s success, besides these factors.

First, let’s take a look at what I refer to as ‘No No Conditioning’. It is something that most of us first experienced when we were very young. Normally, our parents use it first and later our teachers and others. I read the results of a survey which stated the average one-year old hears the word “NO” more than 400 times a day! First I thought this must be an exaggeration, but the bottom line is one-year olds learn what to do because they’re constantly told what NOT to do.

Even though our parents, teachers and other important people in our lives have the best intentions and want us to do well, using negative words has an unintended effect. We grow up and set off to work…but we’ve adopted negative speech and a negative mindset. This may also explain why most people around us use negative language by default.

I don’t think I need to lecture you on the power of words. George Orwell said once “If thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought.” The lesson here is you should start to observe the language you use. Your language reflects your beliefs.

It’s time to choose words that create success and say positive things about you and for your business. This simple change can greatly improve your success in both your business and your personal life.
